Here Be Vikings – Point of Ayre
(1 image in this post). Love these Dolphins which are popping up all over the Isle of Man in support of Hospice Isle of Man. This one is called – Here be Vikings. Location: Point of Ayre. Created By: Rachael & Phillippa Corcutt Sponsor: Manx Independent Carriers. Design Inspiration; Set sail on an adventure with this magnificent viking dolphin. This design is inspired by the Isle of Man’s links to the vikings, from the mysterious ship Odins Ravin to the Manx stone collection which can be found around the island. The design features Peel Castle which was constructed by the vikings in the 11th century, situated on St Patrick’s Isle, and was the home of viking warriors. This dolphin is dressed up in viking amour with a Manx shield design and complete with a shiny viking helmet. Embracing the rich viking heritage and culture this design brings viking history to life. Master Frank in Ramsey Harbour
Master Frank – RY95 is a Manx built, half-decker fishing boat seen here berthed in Ramsey Harbour. Master Frank is the Island’s longest surviving half-decker. Records differ as to whether she was built in 1893 or 1895. Measuring 40ft overall, Master Frank was built by Messrs. Clucas and Duggan, shipwrights, boat and canoe builders and block and spar makers, whose yard was at the rear of Marsden Terrace in Ramsey. North Quay in Douglas
Another one of my Street Photography efforts, this time on North Quay in Douglas. The Newson Trading Co Ltd property on the right is probably one of the few surviving oldest buildings in Douglas that are still standing.
