Were all those old churches in the Isle of Man???? Amazing!!!!!! Explendid!
My great aunt lived opposite St Michael’s church all her life and was the village midwife Eleanor Clegg or Clague she did the flowers in the church each day and I am hoping she was buried there too ? Do you have any old photos of the tiny roadside cottages that were there ? as I hear they are not standing anymore?
Hi again
Updated and exra info from my booklet, FYI.The family lived in Church Cottage. We can send you a pic of a postcard of the cottageGallery, c, if you have email or are on WhatsApp/Facebook.
It’s on our website – https://www.michael-heritage.org/
Scroll down to the Gallery, click on Kirk Michael Village tab. It’s the house on the left of the first photo, with horse outsde, and on second row down, on right.

Hi Wendy,
The cottages are still standing, and her husband and son are commemorated on the church War Memorials. Sad story, but Mrs Clague is very fondly remembered in the village, by older folk. I wrote a booklet for Michael Heritage that included them both. She lived in Church Cottage, I think. The cottages opposite it are in Haddens Terrace.
Manxscenes may well have photos of that section of Main Road, Some old postcards certainly do. If you contact Michael Heritage via their website or Facebook Page, I’m sure they will look them up. I do have them, but I’m in hospital st present.
