Lady Isabella – Laxey Wheel

The wheel was built in 1854 in order to drain the mines of water and was officially started by Lieutenant Governor Hope and it was named in honour of his wife “Lady Isabella”.

    I love the Laxey wheel – it is such a symbol of the island. It makes for a really interesting visit.
