WW1 Commemorative Poppies and the Steam Packet Manannan
A bit of a breeze blowing up on Douglas Head this afternoon and I just couldn’t resist this one of the Manannan backing in to her Berth. Coupled with the Gorgeous WW1 commemorative display of poppies on Douglas Head now in full bloom which is a total credit to Douglas Corporation Gardening Department for such a fantastic display up on Douglas Head. Steam Packet Disruption (Due to Hurricane Katia)
All tied up – The two Steam Packet Vessels (The Flag Ship Ben My Chree and the Fast craft Manannan) seen here tied up in Douglas Harbour and unable to sail today (12th September 2011) because of the severe weather conditions in the Irish Sea due to the tail end of hurricane Katia. The forecast today has given possible further disruptions for the next day or so also! Whilst out for a walk today on South Quay we were lucky to spot the Steam Packets Fast Craft Manannan entering Douglas Harbour after returning from the port of Liverpool. Captured this image of the flagship of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s, Ben My Chree whist She was berthed in Douglas Harbour this morning (14/7/11) I was on board the Steam Packet’s fast Craft Manannan which was just about to leave for Liverpool – (click image for larger view).
