I am sure these hardy fellas must be looking forward to Spring time on the Isle of Man! This image was taken on the Ballamooar Straight just north of Ballaugh and shows the flooded fields from the heavy rain so far this year (2014). Standing on the Public Footpath which leads down to Jurby Beach, the property on the left hand side is Killane Mill which is famous for it’s owner constructing a man made sea defence to the rear of the property – See my previous post looking from Jurby Beach in August 2013 Click Here Feel free to make any comments either on this website by clicking the “Write comment” below or by logging onto my Facebook Page enjoy – Click on the image for a larger view.
The Sandy Coastline from Kirk Michael to Jurby
Quite a topical subject at the moment with the recent severe gales and the coastal erosion that has occurred due to the storms. I captured this image today whilst travelling from Peel of the sandy West coastline of the Island from Kirk Michael up to Jurby Head, with the evidence of coastal erosion quite prominent. You can also see in the top left of the image the white spire of Jurby Church and on the extreme right you can make out Kirk Michael Church. I have added an image of this old Control Tower before onto manxscenes.com but I liked the sky and cloud formation on this image that I took yesterday. As you can imagine this Control Tower was a constant hive of activity during the Second World War.
