Posted on July 28, 2011July 28, 2011 by Peter Killey

Over the course of time I will add an image and a brief resume of every Church and Chapel on the Isle of Man. If you have followed my photography website before you will probably know I absolutely love architecture, especially ecclesiastical architecture. To save you looking through every image on here, just type into the above ‘Search Manxscenes’ box the name of the Church or Chapel you are looking for and if I have captured it, you can view it. If I have missed a Church or Chapel, just drop me a mail via the Contact page 🙂 The images will be in no particular index and as already stated please make use of the search ‘Search Manxscenes’ box on this website. Keep checking back at this section from time to time. Enjoy… Peter

Kirk Christ Church – Lezayre

Posted on July 24, 2011July 24, 2011 by Peter Killey

This beautiful church has always proved a difficult image for me to capture under the correct light conditions especially as this particular elevation faces North! I also captured an image of this church in March 2004 click and I have to say that it appears the spire of the church is starting to show signs of deterioration and age, however I totally understand the massive cost of maintaining such a beautiful church, especially with shrinking congregations!

St Johns Church – Royal Chapel – St Johns

Posted on July 9, 2011July 12, 2011 by Peter Killey

This image shows the entrance to the famous Royal Chapel at St Johns and its worth noting the direction of the Three Legs of Mann which is dated 1848 – (click image for larger view). I have had many a debate over the direction of which way the 3 Legs of Mann should point, but ultimately the legs should point in the opposite way to which you can see here, the correct direction which can be traced back to the pommel on the Manx Sword of State in the 12th century should point in the opposite direction to this image! – Source Manxscenes.com The image was taken on my Nikon D80 SLR with a Nikon 18-135 F3.5/5.6 G AFS DX lens, and cropped in Adobe Photoshop CS5.
