Tynwald Hill Inn St Johns and Slieau Whallian Mountain

Posted on August 5, 2012 by Peter Killey

The Tynwald Hill Inn at St. Johns with Slieau Whallian mountain in the background, the mountain is also known as “Witches Hill” and legend has it that witches were rolled down the hill from the top in spiked barrels and if they were alive at the bottom they were judged to be witches and put to death. (source: An Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Isle of Man). The image was captured on my Nikon D80 DSLR with a Nikon 18-105 F3.5/5.6 G AFS DX lens, cropped and resized in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Tynwald Day 2012 – Our Isle of Man Political Leaders

Posted on July 5, 2012 by Peter Killey

Had a very brief and quick trip down to Tynwald Hill today to mark the Isle of Man’s National Day (July 5th) I did not get too many images but was able to grab a shot of all our Political leaders (MHK’s MLC’s and Lieutenant Governor etc) after the Tynwald Ceremony, they were all seated outside the Royal Chapel in St John’s. The images were captured on my Nikon D80 DSLR with a Nikon 18-135 F3.5/5.6 G AFS DX lens and cropped and resized in Adobe Photoshop CS5. You can also see in the top left of the image the white spire of Jurby Church. Austin A35 on Peel Breakwater

Posted on August 15, 2011 by Peter Killey

Spotted this beautiful, pristine little Austin A35 on Peel Breakwater yesterday, I can only presume that the registration number reflects the year the car was first registered on the Isle of Man. Any ideas of a date of registration for this lovely classic car? The image was taken on my Nikon D80 SLR with a Nikon 18-135 F3.5/5.6 G AFS DX lens at 18mm and cropped in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Peel on a busy Sunday Afternoon

Posted on August 14, 2011 by Peter Killey

Standing on the footpath at the side of Peel Castle and looking over Fenella Beach towards a busy Peel Beach. The mountain centre left is Greeba Mountain and the hill to the right of the image is Slieau Whallian. The spire in the centre right of the image is St Germans Cathederal which is why Peel is classed as a City! The image was taken on my Nikon D80 SLR with a Nikon 18-135 F3.5/5.6 G AFS DX lens at 20mm and cropped in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Click on the image for a larger view!

St Johns Church – Royal Chapel – St Johns

Posted on July 9, 2011July 12, 2011 by Peter Killey

This image shows the entrance to the famous Royal Chapel at St Johns and its worth noting the direction of the Three Legs of Mann which is dated 1848 – (click image for larger view). I have had many a debate over the direction of which way the 3 Legs of Mann should point, but ultimately the legs should point in the opposite way to which you can see here, the correct direction which can be traced back to the pommel on the Manx Sword of State in the 12th century should point in the opposite direction to this image! – Source Manxscenes.com The image was taken on my Nikon D80 SLR with a Nikon 18-135 F3.5/5.6 G AFS DX lens, and cropped in Adobe Photoshop CS5.
