I went up to Braddan new Cemetery today to listen to local historian Mr Peter Kelly chat to a group of us about the Archibald Knox designed gravestones, and on the way up I couldn’t help capturing this image of the Chapel. Old Kirk Braddan Church
Set in a beautiful wooded valley by the River Dhoo. The churchyard is full of Georgian headstones and is a wonderful place for photographers and anyone with an interest in Manx history and architecture to visit. A Walk Along the Raad Ny Foillan to Port Soderick
Went for a walk on the Raad Ny Foillan (Coastal Footpath) today to Port Soderick and then down to the former Port Soderick Hotel which was also latterly known as the Anchor Hotel, as you can see the building is now sadly derelict. The images were captured on my Nikon D80 DSLR with a Nikon 18-105 F3.5/5.6 G AFS DX lens, cropped and resized in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Nobles Hospital – Air Ambulance (MGP 2012)
During MGP fortnight this Twin Squirrel Air Ambulance Helicopter can be seen flying around the Isle of Man when the roads are closed for racing. I captured these pictures the other day whilst the civilian emergency aircraft was on standby duties at one of the three heli-pads at Nobles Isle of Man Hospital. This particular image was captured on my compact Nikon S3000 digital camera and cropped in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Old Kirk Braddan Church
A fantastic venue for a photographer to capture images of the many interesting aspects of the Isle of Man in History, this graveyard contains so many interesting graves and tombstones and offers us photographers a fantastic opportunity to capture so many dramatic effects depending on light and weather conditions etc… This particular image was captured on my Fuji X10 camera resized and cropped in Adobe Photoshop CS5 Feel free to make any comments either on this website by clicking the “Write comment” below or by logging onto my Facebook page www.facebook.com/manxscenes Click on the image for a larger view.
The Truly and Original Fairy Bridge…
The magical, mystical, beautiful and truly original Fairy Bridge at Kewaigue, Braddan. Standing here made me feel like I was not alone, so eerie but so very peaceful… There are trinkets placed in the wall and flowers all around, and as you can see there is a wreath placed at the top of the arch of the Fairy Bridge. The below image was captured on my Fuji X10 camera resized and cropped in Adobe Photoshop CS5 Click on the image for a larger view – Feel free to make any comments either on here by clicking the “Write comment” below or by logging onto my Facebook page www.facebook.com/manxscenes

Kirk Braddan New Cemetery
Whilst out and about today I captured this image of Kirk Braddan new Cemetery on the Braddan Road, the Mortuary Chapel is in classic Manx style designed by John Jefferson and was opened circa 1843, John Jefferson also designed what is now Joseph Bucknalls in upper Church Street and the former Methodist School in Peel by Albany Road Corner (Thanks to local Historian Peter Kelly for all his help and information) The Cemetery is such a wealth of Manx history and the graves of two famous Manx people spring to mind, Archibald Knox and Henry Bloom Noble, incidentally my Grandad and Grandma Killey are also buried in this graveyard. The image was captured on my Nikon D80 SLR with a Nikon 18-135 F3.5/5.6 G AFS DX lens at 20mm, converted into sepia to give a “Ye olde World” look and finally cropped in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Archibald Knox – Kirk Braddan Cemetery
This very famous Manx Grave in the New Kirk Braddan Cemetery is that of Manx Illustrator and designer Archibald Knox (1864 to 1933). Archibald Knox was born in nearby Cronkbourne Village and he grew up being inspired by intricately carved patterns in Celtic Stones of Mann. The beautiful wording on his gravestone reads “A humble servant of God in the ministry of the beautiful” His work still lives on to this day in the form of the world famous Archibald Knox Jewelry. The image was captured on my Nikon S3000 digital camera and cropped in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Click on the image for a larger view!
