An interior and exterior image of St. Adamnan’s Church.

This quaint little church in is one of the Islands oldest churches where the walls date back to possibly the 12th century on a site used since perhaps the first Christian missionaries on the Isle of Man.

The site is steeped in Manx History and if you look at the bottom right external image you can make out the Celtic Wheel Head Cross that is almost completely covered in interlacing, knot work and plait work designs. This stone dates from the 9th or even the 10th century.

(Manx National Heritage catalogued Cross No. 73)

I am feeling rather honoured to have my images used and my name printed on a full Isle of Man Stamp collection showcasing all 17 churches of the Manx Telecom Parish Walk.

The stamps are being released on the 15th June 2016 and it has been a pleasure working with everyone at IOM Stamps and Coins to fulfil this project.

Situated in the Parish of Kirk Malew this quaint little Church was built in 1772 and is attached to the parish Church of Kirk Malew.

Originally this church was built to accommodate about 200 people and was intended to provide a more convenient Chapel of Ease together with a parish school for those from the outlying districts!

What a lovely building which I have never spotted before.

Pretty sure it is private ownership now and not part of the Church.

Bride is one of the three parishes on the Isle of Man which have Rectories (Andreas, Ballaugh and Bride) all remaining parishes have Vicarages.
